Journal 1: (My ENC 1101 Experience)
My experience in ENC 1101, happened about two years
ago. English was one of the three
classes I took to start towards receiving an Associate of Arts degree, in early
education. I had recently started a new
job and the degree is a requirement. It has
been many years since I have been out of high school. So this was my first experience starting
college. This was an online course. I had to get familiarized with how to go
about the course on the computer, find the blackboard, tools, discussion board,
and time management. I had to learn to
juggle working full time, family life, and my home.
I cannot remember my strengths but I did have to write
descriptive essays and manage my time to finish a project. I also had the opportunity to work with a group
of classmates where you all are involved to participate in a project, which
necessarily doesn't mean that they will. We read a few chapters a week, checked
in on the discussion board, did the homework drafts, turned the drafts into
peers, which was very hard sometimes to find, doing this course online and
revised the drafts to turn in the completed work.
Since it has been a while taking English I feel that I
need more assistance with formatting, citing and creativity in my words of a
story and finding a topic to write about.
My vocabulary through twenty-four years of teaching Preschool seems to
have diminished.
